Woodward's coaches was started by John Woodward, he bought a 45 seat coach in July 1968 which he parked on the drive of his house in Charlesworth, as an owner driver his main source of income was transporting workers to the factories and children to schools in and around Glossop, with the odd private hire job when time permitted.

October 1970 saw the arrival of the first full time driver, (Brian who remained with the company until his retirement in 1994) by which time a minibus had been added to the fleet to cover more school contract work and local authority day care work

By 1972 John had bought another 45 seat Bedford coach to cover the ever increasing amount of private hire work that he was doing.

By 1976 John had built up a very good reputation and very many loyal customers, so with more coaches and drivers it was necessary to purchase more suitable premises, John purchased a large garage with office frontage on High Street East, Glossop his wife Gail was now employed full time running the office.

In 1977 Woodward Coaches bought Royal Red Coaches so that they could inherit the excursion programme which was operating within the Glossop area.

1980 saw the arrival of a tour program, which included London Weekend's and shopping trips to France.

2007 John Woodward decided to retire and sold the business onto Courtesy Coaches Ltd/ Yelloway Motor Services Ltd

The history of Hebble Motor Services (the name is thought to have been derived from the Hebble Brook, a tributary of the River Calder that rises in the hills above Halifax) can be traced back to 1st December 1924 when brothers Oliver and Charles Holdsworth, well-known Halifax hauliers, began operating motorbuses under the 'Hebble' fleetname. The two brothers had already had some experience in motorbus operations in the Harrogate area, forming the Bilton Motor Company, which had sold out to the Harrogate Road Car Company (the predecessor of the West Yorkshire Road Car Company) earlier in 1924.

The Holdsworths were initially refused licences to operate between Sowerby Bridge and Elland, Halifax and Huddersfield, and on a local service along Queens Road in Halifax. As a result they introduced services between Halifax and Brighouse via Southowram, and Halifax and Bingley via Denholme, without the requisite licences, starting a feud with Halifax Corporation that was to last some time.

The services ran from a piece of land in Commercial Street in the centre of Halifax opposite the Victoria Hall, where they picked up outward-bound passengers. Later on over the years the company was run by George Kershaw who on his retirement immigrated to Spain.

During 2007 Courtesy/ Yelloway obtained the phone number and trading name Glenway Coaches of Halifax and Tower Mini Coaches of Sowerby Bridge

Jim and Dot Pemberton had been operating mini coaches around the Tameside area for a number of years, under the name of Hartshead Travel at the time the company concentrated on schools and works contracts although there was a brief period when a bus service was operated from Mossley through Stalybridge into Manchester.

Eventually the Hartshead business took over the long established coach company "Tommy Williams Coaches" upon Tommy's retirement. The purchase of William's coaches brought the first full sized coaches, an established excursion program and a garage on Manchester Road, Mossley.
