Yelloway has come a long way….. with many roads traveled since the early years and a rich family heritage dating back to 1911 when Mr Holt became the pioneer of long distance travel when he borrowed from his friend a purpose built char-a-banc travelling from Rochdale to Torquay, full of excited holiday makers – one of whom was 13-year old Gracie Fields!
In 1915, Mr Robert Holt officially commenced trading as Holt Bros (Rochdale) Ltd which later became Yelloway Motor Services Ltd.
As Yelloway grew, it absorbed several other transport businesses in the North West. But like a stick of rock, the history of Yelloway has ‘family values’ running the whole way through it.
It’s the history of the gradual merging of family-owned businesses that started small and through hard work became successful. That solid belief in taking a very personal pride in serving your customers well is still firmly embedded in everything Yelloway does today.
